Nipper Under The Lid:

Victrola Model 240

Product Identification Decal

Purple Line

This image comes from one of my better HOT finds, a Victrola Model 240 ca. 1921, which I scored at a country garage sale outside of Silverton, Oregon for $125.00. I used my LogiTech 256 hand scanner to scan in the decal, located under the lid. No small feat, I might add, since I had to remove the lid and scan the image in two passes, since it was a bit wider than the four-inch LogiTech scan swath, (I had previously attempted the scanning with the lid installed, but it was impossible to get an accurate straight path.)

Since this image came out grey-scaled, (I don't have a color unit), I loaded it into Aldus PhotoStyler for touch-up, coloring and the final resampling to the image you are now viewing. The colors of the decal are very close to the original, but the "wood" is slightly redder. Below is listed in its entirety the patent notice pasted onto an inside panel of the unit:

Needless to say, I was QUITE pleased with myself for finding this unit, and it almost makes up for NOT BUYING a Brunswick upright console for the same price at another garage sale six months earlier, (about a quarter of a mile down from where I got this one on the same road!)
